I have recently gotten into Dungeons & Dragons, and oh my garsh it is so much fun! One of the things that come with getting into DnD is having a set of dice, wanting more dice, then inevitably buying more dice, which means needing a place to store them. With a yarn stash, you know I have yarn to spare and with crochet skills, I decided to make my own dice bag! I thought it would be hilarious to make a small Yip Yip (inspired by the martians muppets characters) to be the keeper and caretaker of my dice, so I did!

Of course, I couldn’t resist buying a few extra sets from the store, but that’s beside the point! I made a dice bag and it worked out! When my DnD group saw it they laughed and had so much fun playing with it and adjusting its facial expressions. I love the dice bag and my friends did too. In fact, I later made a few more and gifted it to them. They were very sweet about it when I offered to make them some and were surprised I had already made them by the next session. I made one of them a wolf as well because we got one added to our pack in a past session and then it was mostly devoured by the gifted dice bag. I didn’t realize how spacious the bag was and I couldn’t stop laughing after that.

I ended up making it a pattern so it is available for purchase! I made it available on Ravelry and Etsy as the Alien Dice Bag Pattern. I did enjoy making it again and writing up the pattern and tried my best to add helpful images. If you decide to give it a try I hope you enjoy it! If you do have any questions please feel free to contact me! I did make these with an ‘x’ type sc stitch and that’s how I made them a bit smaller but doing it with regular sc just only makes them a bit larger which means more space for dice. hehe.

I’m already thinking of making more dice bags but for now a colorful army of yip yip dice bags might just take over a section of my room. The martian take over in dice bag form begins.
